Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Icebox Labs LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use Icebox, our SMS/MMS-based dinner assistant.

1. Overview

Icebox works entirely over text messages. You don't create an account or provide a name — your phone number is your identifier. We collect only what is necessary to make the Service work: what's in your pantry, your food preferences, and the conversation history needed to give you useful, personalized dinner suggestions.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

2. Information We Collect

a. Phone Number
Your mobile phone number is how we identify you. It is collected automatically when you first text us.

b. Food Photos
When you send photos of your fridge, pantry, or grocery items, we receive and process those images to identify food items. Photos are sent to our AI processing service (see Section 4) and the identified items are stored as part of your pantry inventory. We do not permanently store your raw photos — we retain the extracted inventory data, not the original image, unless temporarily needed for processing.

c. Pantry Inventory
We maintain a list of food items we have identified or that you have told us about, so we can make relevant suggestions over time.

d. Household Information
If you tell us your household size (e.g., "cooking for 4"), we store that to help calibrate recipe suggestions.

e. Dietary Restrictions and Allergies
If you share dietary restrictions, allergies, or food preferences, we store those to tailor suggestions to your household. You can update or remove this information at any time by texting us.

f. Conversation History
We retain your message history with Icebox to provide context for AI responses and to improve the relevance of suggestions over time.

g. Dinner Preferences and Ratings
If you rate or react to dinner suggestions, we store that feedback to personalize future recommendations.

h. Message Timestamps and Delivery Metadata
Standard SMS delivery metadata (e.g., timestamps, delivery status) is collected as part of operating the messaging infrastructure.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not create profiles for sale to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

To provide the Service, we share certain data with the following third parties:

a. Anthropic (Claude API)
Your messages and food photos are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to identify food items and generate responses. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf as a service provider. Their use of data is governed by their own API usage policies and privacy practices. We encourage you to review Anthropic's privacy policy if you have questions about how they handle data.

b. Twilio
The Service operates over Twilio's SMS/MMS platform. Twilio handles message routing and delivery. Your phone number and message content pass through Twilio's infrastructure. Twilio's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy.

We do not share your data with any other third parties except as required by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you are an active user of the Service — meaning you have not opted out and some time has passed since your last interaction.

If you opt out by replying STOP, we will retain your phone number on a suppression list (as required to honor your opt-out), but we will stop sending you messages. You may request full deletion of your data as described in Section 7.

We may retain anonymized or aggregated data (which cannot identify you) indefinitely for service improvement purposes.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include:

No system is perfectly secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Regardless of where you live, we offer the following options to all users:

Opt out of messages: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages from Icebox.

Access your data: Text us asking what data we have associated with your phone number, and we will provide a summary.

Correct your data: Text us to correct or update your pantry, preferences, or household information at any time.

Delete your data: Text us requesting deletion of your data, or email us at iceboxhelper@gmail.com. We will delete your pantry inventory, conversation history, preferences, and associated records within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell data). Contact us to exercise these rights.

Residents of other jurisdictions (including the EU/EEA under GDPR) may have rights to access, rectify, erase, or port their data, and to object to or restrict processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the Service, please contact us and we will promptly delete the associated data.

9. Multi-User Households

Multiple people in a household may text Icebox from different phone numbers, each maintaining their own separate profile. If multiple people share a single phone number, all activity from that number is treated as a single user profile. We have no way to distinguish between individuals using the same phone number.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by sending a text message to your number. The updated policy will be effective when posted. Continued use of the Service after that point constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
